HSEQ

How we approach health, safety, environmental protection and quality.

Handling flammable and hazardous liquids leaves no room for improvisation. Health and safety, environmental protection and quality control are written into the way each movement is carried out, not added to it afterwards.

Health and safety

Every transfer follows a written procedure covering grounding, connection, pressure, flow rate and the checks to be made before, during and after the movement. Personnel work to defined roles, and no operation begins until the person responsible for it has confirmed that the preceding steps were completed.

Staff who handle product are trained for the product class they work with, and refresher training is repeated on a fixed cycle. Protective equipment is specified per task rather than left to judgement, and incidents and near misses are recorded and reviewed, not filed away.

Environmental protection

Containment comes first: bunding, drainage interception and spill kits are positioned before an operation starts, and the response procedure is understood by everyone on site. Tank venting, waste handling and washings are managed so that recovered material is disposed of through licensed routes.

We plan transport to avoid unnecessary movements, since the cleanest journey is the one that does not need to be made. Where a route or a product presents a particular environmental risk, that risk is assessed and written into the job before the cargo is accepted.

Quality

Product quality is protected by keeping records honest. Quantities are metered, samples are drawn and retained at receipt and dispatch, and tanks are cleaned and verified between incompatible products. If a reading does not match the paperwork, the movement stops until the difference is explained.

Customers receive the measurement and sampling records for their own cargo. Those records are produced as the work happens, which is the only way they are worth anything.

What we commit to

  • No movement proceeds if the written procedure for it has not been followed.
  • Personnel are trained for the specific products and equipment they work with.
  • Containment and spill response are in place before an operation begins, not after.
  • Quantities, samples and timings are recorded as they happen and made available to the customer.
  • Incidents and near misses are investigated, and the procedure is changed where the investigation says it should be.
